| Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience. |
| Albert Einstein |
Before the proliferation of the internet, Real Estate Agents used to be a consumers only accurate and comprehensive source for information on homes for sale. Today that information is readily and easily available on the internet. But as Albert Einstein said, “Information is not knowledge.” and “The only source of knowledge is experience.”
A Realtor® provides you with knowledge gained through years of experience helping buyers and seller successfully navigate the real estate process. The financial and legal implications of a real estate transaction are enormous. Whether you are a Buyer or a Seller, it is critical that you have an experienced Realtor® representing your interests. |
What is the Difference Between a Real Estate Agent and a Realtor®?
Many people incorrectly use the terms interchangeably to identify individuals licensed to sell real estate. All Real Estate Agents are not Realtors®. The term Realtor® identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
The Code of Ethics contains 17 Articles and underlying standards of practice which are strictly enforced. These principles can be generally defined as:
• Loyalty to Clients; |
| |
| • Fiduciary (Legal) Duty to Clients; |
| |
| • Cooperation with Competitors; |
| |
| • Truthfulness in statements and advertising; and non-interference in exclusive |
| |
relationships that other Realtors® have with their clients. |
